“Pure Energy – Healthy Living”

...is the theme of the Icelandic Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo Shanghai, reflecting the deep relationship Icelandic people have with the natural forces that forever shape their island and how they have learned to harvest its energy to improve their lives. Iceland is home to some of the world’s most active volcanoes and geysers, it features Europe’s biggest glaciers that in turn feed  rivers and waterfalls. Together they create an abundant resource for non-polluting energy production, both hydro and geothermal.

Icelandic Foreign Minister visits Expo

Foreign Minister of Iceland, H.E. Mr. Össur Skarphéšinsson, visited Shanghai in mid July as part of his official visit to China. During his visit to Shanghai and EXPO, Mr. Össur Skarphéšinsson visited the Iceland and China Pavilions at Expo, answered questions in interviews with CCTV and Reuters and met with the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Mr. Tang Dengjie.

KK concert in Shanghai

In relation to the visit of a delegation of representatives from the Icelandic Tourism Industry to Shanghai, KK band had a concert in Shanghai last June. The concert was held on the smaller stage of Expo Cultural Centre, which is a gigantic concert centre in the Expo Park. An audience of about 500 people celebrated KK’s performance.

Icelandic film No Network part of the Shanghai International Film Festival

During the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) held in June, a Nordic Section of the festival was inititated by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Icelandic film No Network directed by Ari Kristintsson was the Icelandic contribution to the Festival.
